A young mother from a remote village in Bogia District is pleading for urgent help to save her baby’s life.

“My baby is in pain. I cannot watch her suffer. Please, if anyone can help us, we need this operation now,” says Queeneth Karumba, mother of baby Finola.

At just a few months old, Finola has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus — a dangerous condition where fluid builds up in the brain. Without surgery, her life hangs in the balance.

Cradled in her mother’s arms at Modilon General Hospital in Madang, Finola’s head continues to swell. The hospital cannot perform the operation — the family must urgently raise around K5,000 to get her to Kundiawa General Hospital for life-saving treatment.

“I tried to earn money at the market, but it was too hard. For five months I struggled — we don’t even have enough for food or warm clothes,” Karumba says.

Recently, Bogia MP donated K2,000. Other kind-hearted Papua New Guineans have also sent support — but time is running out.

“Please, help us save my baby,” Karumba pleads.
